Personal Statement

Being a game designer has always been a passion of mine ever sense I was young learning the basics and creating such a thing has caught my attention and has been a goal I’ve wanted to reach my whole life. My name is Kerdrick Pierre I am a student attending Bloomfield College majoring in Game Development I recently graduated from Gibbs College with a 3.4 GPA receiving my Associates in Visual Communication and Applied Science. I am currently trying to attain my Bachelors; my goal is to do so with a 4.0 GPA.

I want to be a Game Developer because it fascinates me it is amazing what can be accomplished with today’s technology, the art and creativity behind creating a game interest me and I want to animate and also developing characters. I love the freedom of showing ones artistic side and being open and able to create any idea. I want to make games that will interest people and inspire them to think outside of the box to find different ways for problem solving and at the same time amaze them with true to life graphics.

I became fascinated with making video games when I got my first super Nintendo gaming console, I was 10 years old and felt like a kid in a candy store it was one of the best days of my life. I found it to be amazing how the player could control a character through a device connected to the gaming console, it amazed me. From then on I began to play many games Nintendo, Sony play station, Sega Dream Cast and many more; I’ve always wanted to draw, animate, and, model characters I began to draw as a result of wanting to develop my own character, it is still a work in progress. I find the field of gaming to be very interesting and enjoy playing some of the new titles being released.

My goal is to one day be able to develop video games and design character models, animate them, and model 3D levels as well as learn and master the programs. I have experience with Softimage a character modeling program in which you can model 3D characters and animate them. I’ve watched plenty of my favorite game development companies as they did modeling, character design and, development and I was intrigued by it, the level of artistry it took to create a masterpiece was wonderful. My favorite companies are Bioware and Ubisoft they created two of my favorite video games Mass Effect and Assassins creed, two amazing games.

My number one goal is to one-day work for either one of these companies it would be a dream come true. I would love to animate or even illustrate and develop 3D characters for them. It would be a great learning experience as well as an amazing job to have working with the development team for either Bioware or Ubisoft. If I could choose one word to describe my love for game development it would lucky, lucky to have a talent that enables me to create anything that I choose. Many people aren’t lucky enough to pursue their dream but I feel that I am blessed to have the opportunity.

Frame effect

In this video I try to capture a still image of my self using a track motion effect, the only problem I experienced was getting the picture to stay in the frame because of the darkness of my shirt and the black frame. But, when you get it right it's a really cool effect. ENJOY!

Car hit- Test shot

This is my attempt at creating a realistic hit and run scene. The difficult part of creating this scene was figuring out how to get the feet in the shot, which you will notice are still not fully in. but with that said I think it's still enjoyable to watch.
